Academic Component (September–May)

During each academic year we hire individuals to work as tutors in core subject areas and often electives as well. These include but are not limited to math, science, English, ACT prep, computer science, Spanish, French, and robotics. These positions are part time with no benefits, and they require individuals who demonstrate strong knowledge in the content area(s) and hold a junior standing in college. A bachelor’s degree and/or certifications are preferred.

Summer Component (June–July)

During the summer component, the three Upward Bound programs (AEUB, MSC, and PCUB) hire summer resident assistants (RAs) for a total of six weeks to work with students to provide:

  • supervision for program activities and dorm time;
  • manage group initiatives;
  • provide cultural, academic, and social activities; and
  • perform other duties as assigned.

RAs must reside in the dorm during the four-week residential period and must attend a one-week in-service training. In addition to their pay, RAs receive a room and weekly meals. Preference is given to individuals who have experience working with high school students and/or individuals with residence hall program experience.
